It is what appears to be in as new unused condition. Excellent collectors edition. Cost when new was $1,750.00
It has a unique drive system that was developed, instead of the usual drive rods connected in large drive wheels,
the steam power is transferred in drive wheels that resemble rolling stock trucks by means of vertical pistons and universal gears.
Over the years, approximately 3000 shay-type locomotives were built. The Western Maryland Railroad used it to serve the mining operations or Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Maryland.
This steam engine is a highly detailed prototypical locomotive.
